From 6th of August, 2014, ResellerClub will start charging an annual fee of $3 for Privacy Protection on every domain name. This will certainly impact WHMCS Domain Resellers using ResellerClub.

Impact for WHMCS Users using ResellerClub / LogicBoxes Registrars

  • Renewing a Domain name with the ID Protection Addon activated will result in charge of Privacy Protect service. This could lead into loss of money if your recurring price is incorrect with ID Protection Addon enabled!
  • WHMCS Users offering our REMDI Interface for client area side ID Protection Management will be charged when the customer activates the ID Protection Service

  • Solutions to avoid surprises

We have prepared a small and easy guide to make changes in your WHMCS to avoid undesired surprises and a possible loss of money.

You may update first the FREE Tools to v2.8.1 build 2 before you start:

The following guide is focused towards Resellers who have offered privacy protection for free with every Domain. You may consider deactivating the ID Protection Addon for all your domains:

    1. In WHMCS -> Setup -> Products/Services -> Domain Pricing set a selling price for the ID Protection Domain Addon.
    2. Goto the FREE Tools homepage and click the link “Manage TLD's & Domains” from the left hand side menu.
    3. Click the link for the Subtool “Tool 3# - Activate/Deactivate Domain Addons”
    4. From the “Select Addon options” set dnsmanagement and emailforwarding radio buttons to “Leave as is” and set the idprotection radio button to “Deactivate”
    5. From the “Domain List” Menu select all your domains.
    6. Now, simply click the button “Change Management Tools settings”
This action will disable the ID Protection Addon in WHMCS for all your domains and prevent ID Protection Service charge when a domain is renewed.

Your customers can always re-order the ID Protection Addon for a domain from the client area domain details page, TAB “Addons”. By placing an order for the Addon, an invoice will be created and once paid, the ID Protection service will be added and activated in your reseller account automatically.

Another solution to assure that you are on the safe side without loss of money is updating all recurring prices for your active domains:

    1. Make sure you have a selling price set for the ID Protection Addon if you plan to charge for the service.
    2. Goto the FREE Tools homepage and click the link “Manage TLD's & Domains” from the left hand side menu.
    3. Click the link for the Subtool “Tool 3# - Activate/Deactivate Domain Addons”
    4. From the “Select Addon options” set dnsmanagement, emailforwarding and idprotection radio buttons to “Leave as is” and activate the checkbox “Update Recurring amount?”
    5. From the “Domain List” Menu select all your domains
    6. Now, simply click the button “Change Management Tools settings”
This action only updates the recurring prices for all selected domains and apply the correct recurring selling price based on your TLD pricing and Addon pricing.

    Regards,
    Marco
