TOPIC: REM Domain Interface - update DNS records?

REM Domain Interface - update DNS records? 4 years 8 months ago #145

The REM Domain interface looks great. I think a big thing it may be missing is the ablility to bulk edit/update the DNS records with a DNS zone file in standard format.

Like www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1035.txt. With this we can export all the name records for a specific domain from a previous registrar, and import them into Resellerclub. It could automatically update the A records, MX Records, CNAME, NS, TXT, SRV, and SOA Parameters. Otherwise we have to copy/paste in the resellerclub interface for the client.

Is this something that would be possible?

Thanks!

The link shows page not found 404...

I think you have givin a good idea Jason. But not for REMDI. For RAMDI which is the DNS Record management Interface....

So, what you would have is a kind of upload system to select a local file, let us say a ".csv" file and make a bulk insert. Correct?

Here is an example file:

yeah, this is a bind zone file. However, I know what you want but we cannot use a bind zone file for that. The file should be a coma separated file which then is processed by the mod for a bulk insert through the RC api.

A bind zone file is a text file that can be manipulated in the format, structure, with white spaces, or tabs, etc. etc. by the admin and this makes it extremly dificult to handle. Further, the TTL at ResellerClub always must be >= 14400

The following is feasible and could be offered:

CNAME,autodiscover.domain.com,14400
A,internal,xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,14400
NS,ns25.domain.com,14400
TXT,"v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ip4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ip4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,14400
etc. etc. etc. etc.

Marco

That would work. I could just let customers know they need to change the TTL to 14400, or could the module just change it itself if less than 14400? It could then just have a disclaimer that any values <14400 would be changed?

Thanks!
